On a winter climbing course you'll venture onto steep ground where
the use of two technical axes, ropes and harnesses are all essential.
Our ice climbing and mixed climbing courses are specifically targeted to be relevant to your level of climbing ability; from Intro Winter Climbing, through Learn to Lead to Performance Coaching Courses we can cater for your needs.
Guided climbing is also very popular through the winter months - go
ice climbing safe in the knowledge that you
have an experienced
professional on the other end of the rope.
All of our winter climbing courses are run and directed by fully qualified winter climbing MIC instructors. Please note that these instructors are in very high demand during the short and popular winter season - if you want to be sure of a place, please book well in advance!
Although winter climbing is a different game from winter
mountaineering, the majority of winter climbs are situated high in the
Scottish mountains. It is necessary to have good
winter mountain skills
to get to and from your route of choice.
Therefore, it is recommended that you complete a winter skills course or winter mountain course prior to moving on to winter climbing.
It is also possible to design a course that covers winter skills and gives you an intro to climbing on the same course. Contact us to discuss your course content and to make sure you get the most out of your time with us.
Our ice and mixed climbing courses can be based from
either Aviemore (Cairngorms)
or Fort
William (Ben Nevis, Glencoe).
