SPANISH ROCK CLIMBING COURSES AND ADVENTURE COURSES (via ferrata, ridge scrambling)

Our rock climbing courses are based in Finestrat, on the Costa Blanca in Spain

Forty minutes from Alicante airport, this area has the best winter weather in Europe and is home to thousands of fantastic routes.

Just a short drive either way up the coast or inland will take you to the vast selection of crags in the Costa Blanca. There is a huge variety of rock climbing to be found here. One day you’ll be clipping bolts on a single pitch crag and the next you’ll be enjoying a long mountain route which tops out on a sun drenched summit.

There are even some classic ridge scrambles (see our Topos page for the Bernia Ridge topo and route description).

Rock climbing on the Costa Blanca in Spain really is serious fun.  The warm winter sun of Spain helps to loosen the muscles and improve your rock climbing.  In January on the Costa Blanca you can be rock climbing in shorts and a T-shirt on the beautiful orange limestone which this area of Spain is famous for.

The climbing in Spain comes in many diverse forms. On the Costa Blanca there are: well-equipped, bolted, single pitch rock climbs just a few minutes’ walk from the road; traditionally protected multi-pitch rock climbs on idyllic Spanish mountain crags; long, multi-pitch, fully bolted rock climbs; and wonderful sea cliffs (this area of the Costa Blanca is after all famed for being close to the Mediterranean) which offer both bolted and traditionally protected rock climbs.

SOME PICTURE FROM OUR COURSES IN SPAIN

HMS York

HMS York was docked up in Alicante for four days while the crew enjoyed some well-earned leave. Twelve of the crew enjoyed a day’s intro to rock climbing at Toix Far Oeste.

Here, Vic and Jerry are seen atop the Bernia Ridge. They both have previous experience in the mountains and spent a day rock climbing before undertaking a traverse of half the ridge. Vic stayed on for the rest of the week and returned to complete the whole ridge as well as climbing the Ponoch via ferrata.
