Spain location information

Our Spanish rock climbing holidays and adventure courses are based in the area around Sella, on the Costa Blanca. This area, in the south east of Spain is home to Europe’s best winter weather, boasting a pleasantly dry and sunny climate. This area of Spain is also very easy to reach from the UK - it is only a short flight to Alicante airport and a 40 minute drive to the area around Sella. Sella is a short drive from the coast where you can find beaches, shops and plenty of entertainment!

Just a short drive either way up the coast or inland will take you to the vast selection of crags in the Costa Blanca. There is a huge variety of rock climbing to be found here. One day you’ll be clipping bolts on a single pitch crag and the next you’ll be enjoying a long mountain route which tops out on a sun drenched summit.

Accomodation Spain
Casaroc offer a range of self-catering accommodation in the beautiful village of Sella, close to some of the best climbing in the area.
Villagehouseinspain.com have two rustic style houses in Sella - Casa Blava sleeps 4/5 and Casa Mes Avall sleeps 9 (at Casa Mes Avall bunkhouse style accommodation is available).
The Orange House offers a range of accommodation (camping, bunkhouse, ensuite B&B) at very reasonable prices.  They are located close to Finestrat near a lot of the popular climbing areas. Discounts are available for groups and long stays.
Spain Villas and Daydream Villas offer property to let, rent and buy on the Costa Blanca and in other parts of Spain and the EU.
Benidorm Apartments offer self-catering apartments in Benidorm.

Public Transport Spain
Alsa.es is the site for bus information for the Costa Blanca area including Alicante airport buses.
FGV Alicante is the site for info on the Costa Blanca Tram System which runs along the costal towns and cities.
Aena.es is Alicante airport’s website.

Car Hire Spain
Some car hire companies operating from Alicante airport supply hire cars with a full tank of fuel and charge a slightly inflated price for this fuel - it is worth checking with the car hire company about this prior to booking.
RentSpain.com offers car hire from Alicante and Valencia airports.
Centauro also from Alicante airport and others.
Auriga Crown offer cheap car hire from Alicante airport.
Carjet also offer cheap car hire from Alicante airport.

Travel Insurance
The BMC offers good travel insurance for rock climing and mountaineering trips.
This Travel Guide also compares other insurance companies and offers general advice.

Rest Day Activities near Finestrat

It is only a short drive to the coast and the beaches at Cala de Finestrat, Vilajoyosa, Albir, Levante and Poniente are close by.

Enjoy a traditional Spanish ‘Menu del dia’ at restaurants in Sella and Orxeta - a typical lunch will begin at around 2 p.m., last till about 5pm and consist of a set menu of 5 courses with wine and coffee. Prices are usually very reasonable - expect between 8 and 15 euros.

The Terra Natura safari park is open year round.

The mountain village of Guadalest is worth a visit, including the Museum of Miniatures (see the Mona Lisa on the eye of a needle!) and Guadalest Castle.

The Caves at Busot offer a dramatic underworld adventure.

Good shopping is available in the small town of Altea (including an interesting food market on Tuesdays) or in the city of Alicante.

The Benidorm Guide is a good resource and guide for Benidorm holidays.
