Hill walking and mountaineering - Scrambling and mountaineering
Hill walking and mountaineering courses
A hill walking and mountaineering course can cover: weather forecast assessment and planning, route selection and route finding, navigation skills with map and compass (GPS navigation if requested), security on steep ground, emergency ropework, mountaineering judgement and decision making and more. There will be ample opportunity to ascend Scottish Munros or Welsh peaks by classic routes.
Scrambling and mountaineering courses
A mountaineering & scrambling course would cover similar skills to a hill walking & mountaineering course but with a greater emphasis on steep ground. Ropework for mountaineering and scrambling would be covered and put into practice on classic scrambles such as Curved Ridge in Glencoe. The Skye Cuillin offers the most consistently challenging terrain in the British Isles and because of this the Isle of Skye is an excellent place to base a mountaineering and scrambling course.
